Qualified to teach?

Eric Meyer, author of several (O'Reilly) books on CSS, made an interesting comment on how colleges would not allow him to teach Computer Science students, partly because he does not have a PhD in Comp Sci, and partly because his degree was in History. I don't think Monash Comp Sci could run without lecturers who don't have PhD's, or who have degrees from other areas in the University.
